2. What data we collect
Usage data: When you visit Game Spotter we automatically collect your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time spent on the site. This is used solely to understand how the site is used and to fix technical problems.
Account data: If you create an account (for price alerts), we collect your email address and a hashed password. We will never sell or share your email with third parties for marketing.
Cookies: We use cookies to keep you logged in and to remember your preferences. See our cookie section below.
3. How we use your data
We use your data to:
- Provide and improve the Game Spotter service
- Send price alert emails (only if you opt in)
- Prevent fraud and abuse

4. Affiliate links & third parties
Game Spotter earns commission when you click a retailer link and make a purchase. This is how we fund the service. When you click through to a retailer (such as Amazon, Argos, or Steam), that retailer's own privacy policy applies. We do not control what data those sites collect. Our affiliate relationships include networks such as Amazon Associates, AWIN, and direct store programmes. Prices shown are provided by those retailers and may differ from what you see on their site.

Required for the site to function. These include session authentication tokens. You cannot opt out of essential cookies while using the site.
Analytics cookies (optional)
Help us understand which pages are popular and where users encounter problems. We only set these if you consent via our cookie banner.

6. Data retention
We keep account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed within 30 days. Server logs are retained for up to 90 days for security purposes.
